MOTHER/MUTHA A DANCE WORK BY T.LANG

How many of us in a heated discussion really stop to think about the origin of your favorite curse word? Probably not to many of use unless you are apart of professor T. Lang’s family. Spelman professor of Drama and director of Choregraphy T. Lang, came up with her latest dance work after an indepth conversation at her family reunion about the origin of the word MotherF*@ker . T. Lang comes from a line of educators so it was only right that her uncle “educated” her on the origins of the word. At a private screening for her upcoming show she broke down how the infamous curse word came about as a result of breeding planations in the south. Where slaves were meant to reproduce with anyone including their own mothers in order to “create” more slaves for the slave owners hence the word “MotherF*@ker” was born.  Through her use of ballet, theatre and hip hop T. Lang delivers an incredible piece that captures you from the start. According to T. Lang “”My purpose behind this project was to spark a conversation that would reveal misrepresentations, concealed facts and exploitation of capitalism in American history,” said Lang.  “The story I’ve created through Mother/Mutha examines the origin of objectifying African-American women, which is seldom acknowledged so vividly and honestly. Much of today’s African-American culture is reflective of that time and most people aren’t even aware of it.”

LIL WAYNE DISSES PUSHA T

Apparently Lil Wayne doesn’t have to speculate. He feels that Pusha T is coming at the Young Money camp on the new song “Exodus 2:31.”

Last night (May 23), Push dropped a new song from his forthcoming solo LP and shortly after Weezy F. Baby took to his @liltunechi Twitter page, writing “fuk Pusha T and anybody that love em.”

So what ruffled the Birdman Jr.’s feathers? Well, Pusha throws a ton of subliminal lines all throughout his new ditty, which samples Notorious B.I.G.’s voice from “What’s Beef.”

Pusha also sends a salvo at an unknown producer on the song “You can keep your beats, nigga / We’d much rather share your bitch, nigga, bitch nigga,” he spits.

For the record, no names are actually said on the song. Pusha was unable to be reached for clarification. He’s currently in France at the Cannes Film Festival. Kanye West and the G.O.O.D. Music family were all on hand for the premier of ‘Ye’s short film, Cruel Summer. The G.O.O.D. Music compilation album, which bares the same name, is due out this summer. Pusha T’s new solo opus is slated for the Fall.

Lil’ Wayne and Pusha T have long been on opposite sides, ever since The Clipse dropped “Mr. Me Too” back in 2006. Wayne took the song as a slight to him and a back and forth between the two ensued on songs and in interviews.

Last year, there was also speculation that Pusha was dissing YMCMB’s Drake on “Dreams Money Can Buy.” (Pusha denied dissing Drake).

When Funkmaster Flex asked Drizzy about the song in October of 2011, Drake said: “I listened to it and I just couldn’t pick it out. I couldn’t pick out where I was supposed to be offended. First of all I never really had any interaction with Pusha T so for him to diss me would be purely issues that he’s having within himself. We’ve met but we’ve been just always cordial with each other. I’m a fan of The Clipse. I say it in interviews so I never really had an issue with him but you know it’s a frustrating time for a lot of people right now. I get it, so if it was directed at me just make it a lil’ more direct next time. You know, I’m up for whatever, man. I didn’t take offense to it, though.”—Shaheem Reid

THE OLYMPICS + HIGH FASHION= AWESOME PHOTOSHOOTS

I am loving how magazines such as Vogue, Elle and others are taking a break from the same ole high fashion looks and mixing it up a bit.

The Olympics are right around the corner and magazines are jumping on the bandwagon. Open up nearly any magazine this month and you’ll see a special on the London Olympics and/or a fashion special themed around all things sporty. Which story do you think captures the theme of athleticism, health and fitness best – we’re partial to the editorials that pair models with athletes for the perfect mix of glamour and fitness. Who can resist the sight of Joan Smalls taking of in a sprint while wearing shimmering Ralph Lauren? Or Karlie Kloss balancing on beams alongside gymnast Jonathan Horton! Take a look at the month’s best sporty stories and tell us which one strikes your fancy.

SINGLE LADIES CAST TALK TO WENDY

The lovely ladies of “Single Ladies” LisaRaye (dressed in her signature color….White) and Denise Vasi  were seen leaving the Wendy Williams Show in NYC. The show is set to premiere this coming monday May 28th on VH1. I know alot of viewers are still up in arms because Stacey Dash is no longer apart of the show but I can truly say I think the show will still do very well and yes that’s mainly because I have been on set and will be be on a few episodes 🙂

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Sometimes celebs can truly be inspiring when it comes to fashion, other times you want to say to yourself…WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!!!!. here are a few examples of moments when I stop and say just that!
